No Anxiety, Stress, Or Worry.
Get The Care You Need at First Impressions
Almost everyone gets a little nervous before visiting the dentist. But some people suffer from dental anxiety so severe it keeps them from ever seeing a dentist. If this sounds like you (or if you’re somewhere in between), the gentle and caring team at First Impressions Dentistry can help.
We offer our patients a variety of sedation dentistry options to reduce anxiety and fear during their appointments. Sedation dentistry can help you get the dental care you need without the stress. However, many of our patients find our team’s friendly chairside manner helps them relax without any additional help!

Commonly called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is one of the gentlest and yet most effective forms of dental sedation available.
Nitrous oxide is an odorless gas breathed through a small and comfortable mask before and during your appointment. It creates a relaxed and pleasant feeling. You’ll still be awake and able to communicate with your dentist if needed.
Best of all, nitrous oxide wears off very quickly. You’ll be back to normal within just a few minutes.
If you’re particularly nervous or anxious before your visit to the dentist, oral sedation can help. Your dentist will prescribe a pill for you to take before your visit.
Oral sedation can help reduce the anxiety and stress you feel before and during your appointment. It may also be used in conjunction with other forms of sedation.
A variety of medications can be used, so talk to your dentist about which might be best for your individual needs.
Conscious IV Sedation
During extractions, root canals, and other procedures, some patients may need a little extra help to relax and feel at-ease.
Conscious IV sedation is a continuous flow of medication. It induces a dreamlike and relaxed state. You’ll still be awake but after your treatment is completed you’ll likely have no memory of it. It’s also known as “twilight” sedation.
Conscious IV sedation is completely safe. It’s a great choice for patients who prefer deeper sedation but who want to avoid the risks associated with general anesthesia.
You should know!
Some forms of sedation dentistry take time to wear off. You may need to arrange to be driven home from your appointment and may not be able to return to work right away.
Your dentist will talk to you more about your sedation options and what to expect.
